In Conversation With Giovanni Giaretta — APRIA Artist Talk

Come listen to artist and AKI ArtEZ teacher Giovanni Giaretta as he takes us along in his practice of artistic research. Giaretta’s essay ‘Geology of Imagination’ — published on APRIA as part of the latest series ‘Being in Relation: Art As Ecology’ — proposes a poetic space for our imagination to uncover and consider the geological structures in the process of film making. It is a playful, provocative endeavour that traces the sedimentation of the creative process itself, while artistically researching the deeply embedded connections between image, geology, semiotics and language. It transcends all scales and sets everything in motion.

On 13th of November, Giaretta will tell us more about the process of writing the essay, take us along in his artistic practice and dive deeper into the (artistic) research that is part of developing his work. Together with host Sjoerd van Oevelen, Giaretta will talk about what it means to do artistic research.

This event is part of the ArtEZ Programme Doing (Artistic) Research Days 24/25.
